Follow the how to instructions below to set up eight static IP addresses using a Netgear Wireless ADSL Firewall Router DG834G. Settings should work with other ADSL / Cable routers made by Linksys, Belkin, D-Link, BT, Billion to name but a few.

When you get 8 static IP's only 5 are useable for computers or any other network device.

x.x.x.25 net
x.x.x.26 gateway
x.x.x.27 useable
x.x.x.28 useable
x.x.x.29 useable
x.x.x.30 useable
x.x.x.31 useable
x.x.x.32 broadcast address

1. Open browser connect to 192.168.0.1 User admin Password password

2. Click Setup Wizard

3. Select disired country and language.
Auto-Detect Connection Type select Yes, click next.

4. Insert your Login and Password (given by your ISP)
click Apply

The next screen you should see is the router status page. If all has gone well you should have entries in all catagories if you don't get any info in the first section called ADSL Port check for typos in your login / password.
If all are correct click on ADSL Settings and try changing the Multiplexing Method.
Click Apply

5. Click on Basic Settings leave everything except under NAT (Network Address Translation) select Disable, click apply

6. Click LAN IP Setup In LAN TCP/IP Setup:
IP Address x.x.x.26
IP Subnet Mask (as supplied by your ISP for the IP address range you have been given)
RIP Direction: Both
RIP Version: RIP-1

7. Select check box next to Use Router as DHCP Server
Starting IP Address: x.x.x.27
Ending IP Address: x.x.x.31
Click Apply

8. Finally click Diagnostics and Reboot the Router

You can now either, hard code the IP address details into your Network prefs for Ethernet or Use DHCP
